Nearly 800 properties seized by junta over alleged ties to armed resistance

Data obtained by RFA, based on statistics from Thailand’s Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (Burma) and the deposed National League for Democracy party’s Human Rights Documentation Team, showed an increase of 203 properties seized by late May, when a report by independent research group the Institute for Strategy and Policy (Myanmar) said junta security forces had confiscated 586 properties since the Feb. 1, 2021 takeover. According to the NLD’s Human Rights Documentation Team, the military had seized 278 homes and 39 businesses owned by 274 NLD members as of the end of October.

Sagaing region resident sentenced to 10 years for allegedly funding a PDF

On Nov. 22, a junta court sentenced Hkamti township resident Aye Thiri, 27, under Section 50 (j) of the Counter-Terrorism Act for providing 5,000 Kyats to the PDF via the Kpay money transfer system. A Sagaing region resident has been sentenced to ten years in prison under anti-terrorism charges for allegedly giving the equivalent of U.S.
